Gradyville Homecoming Saturday, June 13, 2009 Saturday will be another huge day in Gradyville, starting with tours on your own of the fabled community, with the Sparks Feed Mill Get Together and Gradyville Homecoming following, to be topped off by the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church Fish Fry REUNIONS Click on headline for story and picture(s), as added By Ed Waggener Bro. Bill Davenport, proprietor, announces the 3rd Annual Sparks Mill Get Together at 5109 Edmonton Road, Columbia, KY, in the Gradyville Community, on Saturday, June 13, 2009, starting at 10:00amCT and continuing until its over. This year, the mill will look more like it did when it was in full operationg. The mill tower was installed Friday, June 5, 2009, by a four-man crew from Taylor Services, Columbia, KY, including owner and boom truck operator Chester Taylor, highwalkers Bobby Wooten and Jeff Corbin, and project assistant superintendent Casey Taylor, under the general contract management of Bro. Bill. The tower is now in place. "A new feature this year will be a story-telling competition which starts at 11:00amCT. Bro. Bill says there will be a special one-of-a-kind prize to the winners, but didn't elaborate. A favorite of last year, the Amish buggy rides, will again be offered. The proprietor is trying to secure T-Model rides as well, and will send word if he is successful. There will be horseshoes, checkers, music, and corn toss games, and - it wouldn't be the sophisticated Sparks Mill of history without it - chess games. "I want everyone who can to come and join the fun and remember the glory days of yesteryears,"Bro. Davenport said. The event is sure to happen, unless, he says, it has to be postponed in case of stormy or rainy weather. The First Gradyville Get Together at Sparks Mill was Saturday, June 23, 2007.
