Second fatality results from May 4, 2009 Russell Co. crash

Update: At 5:00pm on May 7, 2009, JD Cross, age 72 of Albany died at UK Hospital frominjuries he sustained in this collision

RUSSELL COUNTY, KY (May 4, 2009)- A two vehicle collision occurred at 6:55pmCT, Sunday, May 3, 2009, two miles South of Jamestown on US 127.

A 1999 Chevrolet, operated by Ricky D Lawless, Age 33, Jamestown, KY, not belted, was traveling northbound on US 127, while being pursued by the Russell County Sheriffs Department for failure to stop at a stop sign.



Lawless lost control of his vehicle, entered into the Southbound lane and struck a 1998 Ford Pickup operated by Matt Jones, age 42, Jamestown, not belted. Both drivers were transported to the Russell County Hospital.

Lawless was treated and released and was charged with DUI 2nd, Fleeing and Evading 1st, Wanton Endangerment 1st.

All charges are being handled by the Russell County Sheriff's Department.

Jones was transported to University of Kentucky hospital for injuries sustained in the collision.
