Letter: The Bottle Tree at Tucker's Station To ColumbiaMagazine.com: I have just never been a white bread kind of girl - if everybody else has it I don't want it. I am fascinated by anything that is different. Case in point the Bottle Tree at Tucker's Station - when I planted it last fall I didn't have any idea that it would bear fruit by this spring. This is the most amazing tree I have ever grown. When the bottles ripen they fall off. It's kinda like a coconut, the outside of the fruit is hard and inedible but the inside is filled with a delicious fruity flavored drink. Three more bottles came off this morning and I can't wait to taste them. s/Barbara Armitage This story was posted on 2009-05-06 09:21:11
