LWC Men's Tennis in NAIA National Championships at Mobile, AL Blue Raiders meet Bethany (KS) on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director COLUMBIA, KY -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's tennis team opens the 2009 NAIA Tennis National Championships against Bethany (KS.) College at 9:00amCT on Tuesday, May 12, 2009. The No. 13-ranked Blue Raiders play in one of the eight opening round matches at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, AL. The Lindsey Wilson and Bethany winner faces fourth-seeded and No. 4-ranked California Baptist University -- who received one of eight byes into the second round -- on Wednesday. Lindsey Wilson earned an automatic bid into their seventh straight national championships after beating Indiana University Southeast 5-0 in the Mid-South Conference-Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference unaffiliated group. The Blue Raiders enter the national championships with a 10-4 record and winners of eight straight matches. Bethany -- who received votes in the final NAIA Coaches' Poll -- defeated Friends (KS) University 6-0 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament finals to earn an automatic berth. Bethany enters the 24-team tournament with a 12-6 record, including winning nine consecutive matches. Defending national champion Auburn University Montgomery is the top seed in the tournament.
