Columbia, KY Police investigate another Bloody Crossing crash Two vehicle collision injures three. Passenger in 1997 Geo Tracker treated at Westlake Regional Hospital, then airlifted to UK. CALL FOR ACTION: Following the latest crash on at the Bloody Crossing on the Columbia Western Bypass with KY 61, Columbia Chief of Police Mark Harris is asking, "Will we have to put up crosses before we get a caution light or something to get people's attention there?" and added. "It's a gom." Special to ColumbiaMagazine.com Another wreck has occurred at the Bloody Crossing of the Columbia Western Bypass and KY 61 N interchange. A two vehicle accident which occurred at the KY 55 and KY 61 North interchange on the Columbia Western Bypass which occurred at approximately 4:33pmCT, yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, April 28, 2009. The crash occurred when, according to the police report, Pamela Edmonds, 42, Russell Springs, KY, operating a 2007 Cadillac Escalade approached the interchange of with the Columbia Western Bypass and failed to yield the right of way to Joshua Smith, 21, Columbia, KY, who was traveling south on the bypass in a 1997 Geo Tracker. Geo Tracker struck in side of vehicle The Edmonds Esclanade struck Smith's Tracker in the passenger side. Joshua Smith was transported to Westlake Regional Hospital Regional Hospital in Columbia by Adair County EMS, along with his passenger, Shellena Smith, 22, also of Columbia, KY. Shellina Smith was entrapped in the Tracker and was extricated by Columbia-Adair County firemen. She was flown from Westlake Regional Hospital to the University of Kentucky. Driver of Esclanade treated and released at WRH Edmonds was also transported to Westlake Regional Hospital by Adair County EMS. She was treated there and released. Seatbelts were in use by all. The accident was investigatedby CPD Officer Joshua Brockman, assisted by Officer Jamie Cole. Columbia Police, Adair County EMS, Columbia-Adair County Fire Department and the Kentucky State Police were all on the scene for approximately one hour. This story was posted on 2009-04-29 09:20:45
