Bid awarded for $1.125 million addition to City Hall City receives bids from nine construction companies. Chart of bids, below. By Ed Waggener BCD Construction Company of Bardstown, KY was the winning bidder for the construction of a $1.125 million dollar addition to City Hall, on the south side of the present building at 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. The City Council voted 5-0 to award the bid, with all five of the Councillors present, June Parson, Linda Waggener, Joe Moore, Edwin Taylor, and Charles Grimsley voting in favor of the action at a Special Called Meeting, Friday, April 24, 2009. Councillor Craig Dean, the sixth member of City Council, was not present. Mayor Pat Bell, who presided, recommended the award, which was second in the original bidding to Churchill McGee, LLC, of Lexington, KY, whose bid of $961,000 omitted plumbing. In all, 9 bids were submitted, from the following firms:
BCD, Inc., has constructed much larger jobs, and is currently building a new, $30 million dollar Nelson County High School in Bardstown, KY. Money for the project will come from $475,000.00 in HB 380 State Funds, a $350,00 low interest Rural Development low interest loan plus an RD grant of $50,000, with the balance of $250,000 from City of Columbia funds. The alternative bids include removing the concrete screen, adding columns and new windows on the front. Also present at the meeting were City Attorney Marshall Loy, City Clerk Carolyn Edwards, City Police Chief Mark Harris, members of the media, and Citizen Roy Rademacher. The Columbia City Council holds regular meetings at 6:00pmCT each first Monday of the Month in the Council Meeting Room, City Hall 116 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY.
