Epicurean Kentuckian: Les Petits Fours
"Petits Fours are small cakes generally eaten at theend of a meal or served as part of a large buffet," Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, says. "The name is from the French Petit four, meaning 'small oven." "These petits fours were handcrafted at Magee's Bakery, on Main Street in downtown Frankfort. It should definitely be on the itinerary of anyone visiting the State Capitol," Pen writes. Photo by Pen. ColumbiaMagazine.com Group at Flickr.

Frogs: Honored guests at the Luttrells

2009-04-20 - Knifley, KY - Photo by Nancy Luttrell.
FRANCES SALYERS submitted this great frogs portrait by her sister, Nancy Luttrell. It's of Hank and Sally. The girl frog is Sally. The boy frog is Hank. A note on bull frogs. The top frog almost looks like he has four eyes, with three showing. But the lower one on its right cheek is the frog's "ear," or tympanum. They are cool dudes. The back frog may be the male. It looks like it has amplexus on its mind, and there has to be a country music song in that! Maybe, "Don't come home a-drinkin', with amplexus on your mind."
