Birds of Kentucky: Osprey (this one SC, but same as GRL)

THIS OSPREY has a fairly large fish in its talons, carrying it to a dining room in a nearby pine. The photo was taken in South Carolina, but ospreys are seen in lake areas of Kentucky, including Green River Lake. Some sightings have been made in the Arnold's Landing area.

An egret landing in a powerful crosswind in South Carolina evoked this quote from Arthur C. Clarke: Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from Magic. Though this bird was seen in South Carolina, egrets are found in the Jackson Purchase of Kentucky and, maybe less commonly at Green River Lake. Pen writes, ," I've seen egrets at Green River Lake in the past, too.
