B.J. Fudge: All from Adair should have access to The Pines In response to: V.T. Yarberry: A proud time for Columbia and Adair Co., KY!!! Hey Ed, I want to thank everyone who helped to keep our golf course in Adair County. I know it was a gargantuan effort, and I am sure our community would have been culturally diminished had we lost our course, no pun intended. I use the pronoun "our" speaking as an Adair Countian. However, until the dozens of "occasional" Adair County golfers can play golf at The Pines I don't think we can really say that it is our golf course. Many of us are forced to drive to surrounding counties and further to play. This ought not to be. The members that play frequently save money by paying an annual membership fee and I don't believe that a change in the rules to allow occasional Adair County golfers would change their behavior. It seems to me that the money of occasional Adair County golfers would be welcome at The Pines. I know that many of us would play more if we didn't have to drive 30 minutes or more to play. I agree with Tucker that it is great that the label "country club" has been dropped. However, as long as some Adair Countians have access to The Pines and some don't it is still a "country club"" albeit absent the label. We Adair Countians who play just a few times per year should be able to pay and play at The Pines. Billy Joe Fudge This story was posted on 2009-03-29 00:56:06
