The Consensus is The Holler Bird is Barred Owl

The Owl in The Holler by Shamarie Claiborne

Better bird experts have concurred that the Owl in the Holler is a Barred Owl, not common in these parts, but not as rare as the Northern Spotted Owl our resident neophyte owler hoped it would be. We got these comments:

Looks like a Barred Ow. Adult size should be about 21 inches. Hard to tell size from the photo. It's call would be a excellent identifier. Makes a very distinctive "who cooks for you" call.
