AC ambulance team KY's only 1 with all Critical Care Paramedics Of the State of Kentucky's just over 100 Critical Care Paramedics, eleven (11) are employed in Adair County, KY! Click on headline for complete story and photo By Rick Wilson, Public Affairs Officer Adair County Ambulance Service The Adair County Ambulance Service is proud to announce that 100% of our Paramedics have acquired the prestigious Critical Care Paramedic endorsement. Currently the Adair County Ambulance Service is the only ambulance service in Kentucky that has all paramedics with the Critical Care endorsement. Kentucky has just over one hundred CCPs and eleven are employed here in Adair County. They are Todd A. Akin, Donald Hare, Roger Cundiff, Robin Spoon, Daryl Flatt, Tony Bragg, Mark Thrasher, Joe Hughes, Tony Grider, Rick Wilson and Terry Akin. Rick Wilson, Assistant Manager, stated the endorsement is obtained by attending an 85 hour course in advanced training curriculum for seriously ill or injured patient transports. Many critical care transports are required for inter-facility transfers and often are transported by helicopter. We hope to decrease the need for helicopter transports when the speed of a helicopter is not necessary. It will also be an asset during inclement weather when helicopters cannot fly. We have revised our protocols and have also added four protocols approved by our Medical Director, Gary Partin, M.D. that will require a Critical Care Paramedic to accompany the patient transport. Terry Akin, Manager, said he is proud of the staff for wanting to increase their knowledge and professionalism. This is just another example of the dedication and caliber of people that we have that do their best for the people we serve. Currently the ambulance service staffs one Emergency Medical Technician and a Critical Care Paramedic on every emergency run to work as an Advanced Life Support Team. There are two teams scheduled daily from 8:00amCT to midnight. We schedule one team after midnight and one team on call for backup. This story was posted on 2009-03-16 10:19:02
