Both LWC basketball teams get bids to NAIA Nationals! Both qualify because of Top-25 ratings. Women play in Jackson, TN; men travel to Kansas City, MO By Chris Wills, LWC Sports Information Director COLUMBIA, KY -- The Lindsey Wilson College mens and womens basketball teams have punched their ticket into the NAIA National Tournaments March 18-24, 2009. The two teams -- that earned at-large bids into the 32-team tournaments -- will find out on Thursday their opponent and the day and time of their opening round game. The Blue Raider women travel to Jackson, TN, and to the Oman Arena for the 29th Annual NAIA Division I Womens Basketball National Championship. The Lindsey Wilson men play in the 72nd Annual Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Mens Basketball National Championship at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, MO. The two teams earned the at-large bids based on their rating in the final NAIA Coaches Top-25. The Blue Raider men are tied for No. 22 after receiving 94 points from the 12 national raters. Lindsey Wilson enters the national tournament with a 23-8 record. It will be the Blue Raiders ninth all-time appearance. Lindsey Wilson is 6-8 all-time with a pair of national quarterfinal appearances in the programs history. Lindsey Wilson faced four teams during the season that reached the national tournament. The Blue Raiders are 3-5 this season against Georgetown (KY) College (1-1), University of the Cumberlands (KY) (0-3), Freed-Hardeman (TN) University (1-0) and Mountain State (WV) University (1-1). The Lindsey Wilson women are ranked No. 17 after receiving 141 points from the 12 national raters. The Blue Raiders enter the national tournament with a 24-8 record and will make the programs sixth all-time appearance. Lindsey Wilson is 1-5 all-time after winning the programs first-ever game in last seasons national tournament. Lindsey Wilson faced three teams during the season that reached the national tournament. The Blue Raiders are 2-4 this season against Bethel (TN) College (0-1), University of the Cumberlands (KY) (1-2) and Campbellsville (KY) University (1-1).
