Obituary: Elvin (Buddy) Harmon, 73, Adair Co., KY

Mr. Harmon was a member of a respected Adair County family, a farmer, and a longtime Columbia businessman

Elvin "Buddy" Harmon age 73 years a resident of Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, KY formerly of the Lovedale Community in Adair County, Kentucky passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009 at 11:30pmCT at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 1:00pmCT at Stotts-Phelps- McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Clifton Cowan officiating. Interment will be in the Lovedale Cemetery The family requests visiting after 4:00pmCT on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.



He was born December 27, 1935, the son of the late Marvin and Reeda Cook Harmon of Adair Co., KY.

He is survived by his wife, Della Bryant Harmon of Russell Springs, KY, and the following:
  • Two sons: Jimmy Harmon & wife Rosemary of Columbia, KY Timmy Harmon & wife Jeanie of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Debbie Curry of Columbia, KY

  • One sister: Deloris Stapleton of Columbia, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Christy Murphy, Tabatha Beard, Mary Ann Harmon, Mark Harmon, and Julie Curry

  • Four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Harmon, in 2009 and Eddie Joe Harmon, in 2001 and by a grandson, Joey Curry.

Mr. Harmon was a farmer and was a long time Columbia businessman.
