Obituary: John Ameri, 79, Columbia, KY

Mr. Ameri was a member of a respected South Adair County family. He was a retired farmer. He has the distinction of having served in both the US Army and US Navy in the Korean War

John Ameri, 79, 178 Ameri Road, Columbia, KY (the Sparksville Community) passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY, after an illness.

The family has chosen cremation and there will be no public viewing or service.


He was born May 17, 1929 the son of the late Santino and Maria Ragalyi Ameri.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Szanyi Ameri, on October 31, 2006.

He is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Ann Marie Ameri, Columbia, KY;and Maria Margaret Foreman of Wallend, TN

  • Two step grandchildren also survive

  • Two sisters: Flora Gambini and Della Maggio both of East Chicago, IN

  • Mr. Ameri was a served in both the U S Navy and the U S Army in the Korean War. He was a retired farmer
