Obituary: Mabel V. Parson Martin, 91

Mrs. Martin was an Adair County native. She was a past Elder and choir in the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was retired from Fruit of the Loom, Inc. after 27 years service

Mabel V. Parson Martin of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Obe Parson and Lena Beard Parson, was born on September 7, 1917 in Adair County, Kentucky and departed this life on Monday, February 16, 2009 in Brandon, Mississippi. She was 91 years, five months and nine days of age.

The funeral services for Mable V. Parson Martin will be conducted at 10:00amCT, Thursday, February 19, 2009, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. Bro. Kevin Brantley and Bro. Joe Jones will be officiating.



She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member, past elder and choir member of the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was also retired from Fruit of the Loom, Inc. having worked for 27 years.

She united in marriage to Leland Martin on July 18, 1937 in Greensburg, KY. He preceded her in death on April 9, 1979.She is survived by the following:
  • A son and daughter in law: Alvin Ray and Malynn Kessler Martin, Brandon, MS

  • Four grandchildren: Alvin Ray Martin II and his wife, Christine; Nelia Ann Toups and her husband Todd; and Christopher W. Martin, all of Brandon, MS; and Timothy Lee Martin and his wife Kim, Edmond, OK

  • Five great grandchildren

  • A brother and two sisters in law: Willie Frank and Imogene Parson, Greensburg, KY, and Pauline Parson, Campbellsville, KY

  • And a host of other relative and friends
Active pallbearers: Bruce Milby,Carl Berry, Sam Parson, Billy Parson, Harold Wilkerson, and David Parson
Honorary: Richard Jeter, Harold Hudgins, Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church Elders, The Ladies Fidelis Sunday School Class: Fanola DeSpain, Wynemia DeSpain, Tenabel HancockBernice Hudgins, Louella Ronald-Chaney, and JoAnn O'BanionCowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, Greensburg, KY, is in charge of arrangements.

She was also preceded in death by two infant sons: David Lewis Martin and Timothy Allen Martin; four sisters: Madelene Rucker, Pearl Berry, Tina Akin and Lillian Murray; three brothers: Tobe Parson, O.D. Parson and Lawrence Parson.Click here for guestbook online.
