Obituary: Stephen Hingle, 50

Mr. Hingle was the head of a treasured Adair County family, a music minister. With his family, he enriched life in Columbia, KY with establishment and operation of the family business, the Cafe' on the Square

Stephen Jude Hingle, 50, 1269 Walnut Grove Road, Columbia, KY, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2009, at 7:28pmCT at Hardin Memorial Hospital. Elizabethtown, KY after an illness.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at 1:00pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, with interment to followin in Columbia Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:30pmCT, Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the funeral home.

He was a carpenter, a music minister and a store owner. Mr. Hingle and his family operated the Cafe on the Square in Columbia, KY.
He was born January 13, 1959, the son of the late Ernest George and Mary Lou Myer Hingle.
He was preceded in death by one son, Josh Hingle, August 4, 2008.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Hingle of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • Five sons: Zach, Mark, Matt, Obe and Daniel Hingle, Columbia, KY

  • Six daughters: Anna, Sarah, Jessica, Mercy, Elizabeth and Israel Hingle of Columbia, KY

  • Three brothers: Ernest George Hingle, Franklinton, LA; MichaelFredrick Hingle, Boulder, CO; and David Hingle of Alexandria, LA

  • Two sisters: Mary Beth Sneed of Cushing, OK, and Abigail Alfano of Covington, LA

  • And several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
