ACHS Cheerlearers win CANAM Regional competition Squad beats district rivals Marion County and Taylor County Saturday, January 24, 2009. Invitation to CANAM National Championship also received. By Julie McQueary The Adair County High school cheerleaders won the CANAM Regional Cheerleading competition this past Saturday held at ACHS gym. The squad had to go up against district rivals Marion and Taylor Counties. The squad had a great performance with few mistakes, which in turn they won their division and received a bid to the CANAM National Cheerleading Competition. Taylor County received 1st runner-up with Marion Co. in second place. The girls on the squad felt a much more competitive spirit having to compete against squads that are in our district. It made for a very exciting competition.Sophomore Breanna Meeks competed in the senior individual division winning that as well. Last year she won the junior individual division at Regionals and went on to win the junior division at Nationals. There were 14 performances and over 500 spectators at the competition. Coaches and parents were very pleased with the turnout. It was also great to have so many of our teachers and students from the high school and people from the community there supporting the squad. The ACHS cheerleaders will be competing this Saturday the 31st at Central Hardin High School at the 5th region KAPOS cheerleading competition. The squad is made up of the following girls: Natalie Collins, Samantha Jessie, Amy Irvin, Paige Smith, Chelsea Miller, Jessica Bardin, Emily Ramage, Alexis Tooley, Alex Matney, Molly Keen, Keri Legg, Harley Lewis, Breanna Meeks, Jayce Stone, Malish Hatcher, Rachel Burris, Peyton Antle, Lauren Bridgewaters, Casey Hadley, Taylor Hodges, and Brooklyn Wilson. The coaches are Julie McQueary and Jessica VanArsdale. This story was posted on 2009-01-26 17:20:12
