Isn't it nice that we live in a country where we can express our opinions - both positive and negative. These folks who are not pleased with Pinewood have expressed their opinion(s), now it is my time.

One of the former writers said that only a few people have even been out to Pinewood. I'm sorry they have not made the effort to go out there. The county owns a beautiful lake that is open to the public for fishing. Nearly everyone has a fishing pole, come out and spend some time relaxing around the pool. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy some special time there.

And Pinewood is a training ground for our up and coming golfers

Pinewood is also a training ground for our up and coming golfers - both male and female. We have had several golfers who have received full scholarships to colleges and universities because of the training and practice areas at Pinewood where their skills can be improved.

My husband and I have been members of Pinewood for at least 25 years. I doubt either one of us has played 20 rounds of golf a year but have continued being members. Yes, Pinewood has gotten a bad rap in years past because someone thought it should be an elite club. Let me assure each of you, everyone in our county is considered elite and can be a member of Pinewood.

It thrills me that some people have decided to pay their dues monthly instead of making one initial payment. We also have several months that are open to the Public where anyone can pay a green fee and play. This green fee includes a cart. This is the best way to relieve stress than anything I can think of.

Do you think that the same people who have complained about asking local people to help Pinewood may be the same people who have complained about the new Wal-Mart being so far out of town even though it is such an asset to our community? Are we not supposed to support entities that are assets? Gee, is it possible to please every one?

I personally appreciate Lindsey Wilson College considering improving Pinewood by enlarging the dining facility. This will be great for everyone. The dining room at Pinewood can be used by anyone who pays the fee. Any place you rent has a fee. I know times are hard but everyone can do something to help make this a reality.
