Obituary: Billie Alice Coy, 69

Mrs. Coy was the head of a large, respected family. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a retired sewing machine operator in Indiana

Billie Alice Coy, 69, 305 Trabue Street, Columbia, KY, formerly of Edinburgh, IN, passed away Monday, December 1, 2008, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center in Somerset, KY, after several weeks illness.

The funeral service is Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at 11:00amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia, KY. Interment will be after 4:00pm on Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.



She was the daughter of the late John Robert Scheckles and Flossie Thrasher Cook of Indiana.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Debra Giles and husband Jimmie, Lebanon, IN; and Linda Byrd and husband Tommy of Columbia, KY

  • One son: Greg Kohr and wife Martha of Williamsburg, KY

  • Two brothers: Johnnie Scheckles, Albany, KY; and Danny Schneckles, Edinburg, IN

  • Six grandchildren: Joshua Giles, Laura Harvey, Rachel Bardin, Lacy Kohr, Deanna Kohr, and Tia Kohr

  • Eleven grandchildren

  • And by several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends
She was preceded in death by three children, Paula Baker on March 4 , 1996; John Kohr on June 30, 1975; and Paul Ray Coy on July 6, 1967; and by two brothers, Robert and Gene Schneckles.

Ms. Coy was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Albany, KY, and was a retired sewing machine operator in Indiana.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
