KY Division of Water, 1508 Westen Street, Bowling Green, KY, 42104

Kentucky is divided into seven major River Basins, the largest of which is the Green and Tradewater River Basin. As a group who works on local projects and problems, the Green & Tradewater River Basin Team is seeking your participation, to insure a full range of perspectives is represented.

The Division of Water relies on Kentucky's River Basin Teams to provide local insight to help determine where to focus scarce State resources. The River Basin Teams are involved in helping to choose where TMDLs are developed, which watersheds are to be targeted for coordinated observation and where to focus restoration and/or preservation efforts.

As residents of the Green and Tradewater River Basin, we share a responsibility for protecting and improving the quality of our watersheds. The Kentucky Institute for Watershed Management Support (KIWMS) is a program created by Western Kentucky University that was established to provide the very technical and infrastructural support to help you accomplish your watershed goals. KIWMS is a strong supporter of the Green & Tradewater River Basin Team.

Please join this group of professionals, officials, and other watershed citizens in a workshop to update the Basin Status Report with current issues, concerns, and statistics. The meeting will be held on December 18, 2008 at 10:00 C.T. in the Cranmer Dining and Conference Center on the Lindsey Wilson College campus in Columbia. Bring your ideas, concerns, recent success stories, and plans for watershed related projects and problems. Attendees will be local government officials, industry and utility representatives, plus, interested citizens.

The last report was written in 2001 and is posted on http://www.watersheds.ky.gov/basins/green_tradewater/ (click on the link in the middle of the page to obtain the Adobe Acrobat file).

The concerns, suggestions, and proposals mentioned in the meeting will be posted on an interactive website for public access (http://waterky.org, then click on "Books" at the top of the page).

Anyone interested can follow, and, most importantly, actively participate in, the development of this living document reflecting the current state of our basin. Past, current and planned projects promoting the quality of our watersheds are included or linked, and updated to reflect our progress.

We look forward to seeing you there.
