LWC will have 5 visitation days for prospective students, families

Events scheduled for Oct., Nov., Jan., Mar., & April, 2008-09
By Duane Bonifer, LWC Director or Public Affairs

As fall gets under way, now is the perfect time to plan a college visit.

That's the advice of Lindsey Wilson Director of Admissions Charity Ferguson.

"Before high school students get too deep into the school year, they should begin to take time in the fall to visit college campuses," Ferguson said.

This school year, Lindsey Wilson offers prospective students and their families five opportunities to attend one a Lindsey Wilson College Open House.

Lindsey Wilson will host an open hose on: October 11, November 22, January 31, March 28 and April 18, 2008.

The days - which are open to area high school juniors and seniors and their families - give prospective students and their families a close-up look of undergraduate life at Lindsey Wilson.

The five visitation days will be held from 9:00am-noon CT. They will begin in the Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center.

"Attending an open house is one of the best ways to learn about a college," Ferguson said. "It gives you a chance to tour the campus, meet with the school's faculty and staff, learn about their student life, and ask anything you want to know about a college.

"An open house also is a great opportunity to discover how you can afford a college education. For example, at Lindsey Wilson, we have financial aid officials on hand to explain the many programs that make a college education affordable."

Students who attend a Lindsey Wilson Open House can also meet with the college's athletic coaches and advisers to student organizations.

"One of the ways to be successful in college is to be involved," Ferguson said. "Lindsey Wilson offers dozens of sports teams, clubs and organizations that appeal to students' interests."

And it's never too early to start the college-search process.

"Some people might think that a college's open house is something just for high school seniors and their families, but an open house is a great opportunity for high school underclassmen and their families to learn about the college-application process," Ferguson said. "It's never too early to start looking at colleges. When you get an early start, your senior year of high school can be a little less stressful for both the student and the family."

Lindsey Wilson's open house dates are open to all high school students and their families. A complimentary lunch will be served in the college's award-winning Cranmer Dining & Conference Center.
