ACHS Girls Golf team wins last match of season Girls Golf Schedule with team photo ColumbiaMagazine.com SPORTS Lauren Goodin leads with 39 By Kim Goodin, ACHS Girls Golf Coach Adair girls win last regular season match defeating Clinton Co. 173 to 209 finishing 8-2-2 on the year in match play. Lauren Goodin led the way with a 39, Natalie Sneed 40, Ashley Goodin 44, Dea Brandon 50, Abby Royse 52, Natalie Curry 54, Emilee Royse 57, Rachel Phipps 59. I am proud of the way we have played and how much we improved. All these girls have contributed in some way or the other. Next up is the Girls Golf Regional Tournament in Russellville, KY at Rolling Hills Country Club. It will be a shot gun start at 9:15 am on Monday, September 29, 2008. I hope we play well Monday in the Region. I wish we could put together that dream round and qualify for the State Tournament. The Region we were moved into this year is so tough. Glasgow is heads and shoulders above everyone else, then there is Franklin-Simpson, Allen County-Scottsville, Taylor, and Green to contend with. Had we had the opportunity to compete in the previous region we would have had a decent shot, but we can't stand around and say what if -- you've got to move ahead and give it your best shot. I feel we've got a lot to look forward in girls' golf in Adair Co. These girls have drawn attention to the sport and I hope it generates more interest in the form of players for us. If you are wondering about our other matches this week, I cancelled them due to limited transportation funds available. We still have Regional competition to go and that will be an expensive trip. Thanks for the great coverage! Hopefully, it will encourage young girls to get interested in golf and tryout for the sport. This story was posted on 2008-09-24 16:12:12
