Obituary: Pearl Hadley, 91

Mrs. Hadley was the respected matriarch of a large South Adair County family. She leaves 72 living descendants. She was a member of Union Chapel Church and was a homemaker.

Pearl Hadley, 91, 429 Preston Hadley Road, Glensfork, KY, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2008, at 8:45pm at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, KY, after several weeks illness.
The funeral service is Sunday, September 21, 208, at 3:30pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Jimmy Bunch and Bro. Ralph Hadley officiatiing. Interment will be in McClister Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:30pm, Saturday, September 20, at the funeral home.



She was born on August 24, 1917, the daughter of the late Charlie and Litha Ellen Wheet Green of Adair County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Hadley, on May 9, 1984.

She is survived by the following:
    Three daughters: Ovaline Thornsbury, Chaplin, KY; Caroline Spoon, Columbia, KY; and Catherine Hadley and husband, Dwight, Fairplay, KY
  • One son: Clinis Hadley and wife Billie, Glensfork, KY

  • Two daughters in law: Jeanie Hadley of Glensfork, KY, and Harriet Hadley of Collumbia, KY

  • One sister: Middie Patterson, Ann Arbor, Michigan

  • Twenty four grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, seven step grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends

  • She is also survived by three special friends: Sarah Reliford, Marie Grant, and Dorothy Parnell
She was preceded in death by three sons, Clayton Hadley, Sr; Clay Hadley, and Claudius Hadley. She was preceded in death by an infant great grandcaughter, Ellen Spoon; by one son in law, Ernest Spoon, and by one brother, Sanford Green; also by two sisters, Christine Adkins and Ruby Fox; and by three half-brothers, Walter Green, Eldia Green, and Virgil Green; and by three half-sisters, Lottie Foley, Verdie Green, and Hallie Green.

Mrs. Hadley was a member of Union Chapel Church and was a homemaker. Her hobby ws tending her flower garden.
