ACHS Band takes takes 2nd straight Grand Championship!

ACHS returns from Glasgow with another impressive array of trophies in 16-band field. Several photos from yesterday will be posted during the day.

It was a night of major victories last night for the Adair County Marching Band in the big 16 band field at the South Central Kentucky Marching Band Classic at Glasgow High School last night, Saturday, September 13, 2008.

The big one, the Overall Grand Champion trophy, was the 2009 Macy Parade bound ACHS bands, making it the second straight--in just eight days--for Director Tim Allen's talented musicians.

In addition, the ACHS Marching band, whose field commander, Kayce Feese, is in her first year in the role, won the following:


  • First Place, Class AAA1
  • Best Colorguard Class AAA1
  • Best Percussion, Class AAA1
  • Distinguished
  • Best Music, Overall (among all competing bands)
  • Best Visual, Overall (among all competing bands)
The 2008 ACHS Marching band program is entitled "Supernatural."

Adair County won Best Band overall last week, September 6, 2008, at the Caverna Marching Band Festival.

North Hardin's band was second, overall, to Adair County, taking the Reserved Grand Championship.

Adair County alumnus Andy Critz led his Russell County High School Mighty Laker to Second Place in Class AAA2.

Other major victories included:
  • Cumberland County High School, Burkesville, KY, won 1st place in Class A, as well as 1st Place colorguard and 1st Place percussion. Caverna was second in the class
  • Green County High School, Greensburg, KY, won 1st Place in Class AA, and best colorguard and best percussion in the class. Metcalfe County High School, Edmonton, KY, won 2nd Place in Class AA and the Best Spirit Award overall.
  • Taylor County High School, Campbellsville, KY, won the Class AAA2 1st Place as well as the Color Guard and Percussion awards in the class. Other winners were Russell County 2nd Place, Larue County 2nd Place, and Hart County 3rd Place, in Class AAA2.
  • Marion County High School, Lebanon, KY, dominated Class AAAA, winning 1st Place, colorguard, and percussion awards in the class. Logan County, Russellville, KY, won 2nd place in the class.
  • Reserve Grand Champion North Hardin was equally dominate in the Class AAAAA, winning 1st Place, colorguard, and percussion, as well as distinguished. Barren County High School, Glasgow, KY, won 2nd Place, AAAAA, and also won distinguished status.
Matt Emerson is the Assistant Director of the Adair County Marching Band.

ACHS Band. 2008 SC KY Classic: All the trophies

For the second time in eight days, the Adair County High School Marching Band has come home with a Grand Championship Trophy and plenty more. These were won at the South Central Kentucky Marching Band Classic at Glasgow High School on Saturday, September 13, 2008, one week after a similar victory at Caverna Marching Band Festival at Horse Cave. ACHS Band at Glasgow: Encore performance

Adair County Fans stood as an encore was performed following its presentation of the2008 program, "Supernatural," in Class AAA1 competition. Adair County not only swept its class, but won the Grand Championship in the 16 band field.
