Agenda, Adair Fiscal Court reg. Sept. 9, 2008 meeting Adair Fiscal Court will meet in regular session on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at 7:00pmCT with a shorter than usual 22 item agenda. The county will consider property tax rates for 2008. The rate will take advantage of the 4% overall increase instead of the lower compensating rate, but most rates will actually be lower because of re-evaluations by the PVA's office and additional property added to the rolls in the past year. Adair County Fiscal Court, the Adair County School Distict, and the City of Columbia have opted for the 4% overal increase rate rather than the lower compensating rate. The Adair County Public Library and the Adair Ambulance Service are opting for the lower compensating rate. Sharply increased fuel hikes and road materials increases are the reasons given by the county judge executive for the need for the modest increase. Difficult economic times and the high unemployment are the reasons given by the library board for adopting the lower compensating rates.
