LWC students to hold CROP hunger walk on Nov. 16, 2008 By Duane Bonifer, LWC Director of Public Affairs Lindsey Wilson College students began discussions this week about holding an event later this fall that will address hunger around the corner--and around the world. On November 16, 2008, Lindsey Wilson will hold the Columbia CROP Hunger Walk. The walk, which is affiliated with Church World Service, is designed to address hunger issues in Columbia-Adair County and in the developing world. The event is being organized by LWC Professor of Communication Greg Phelps, with assistance from LWC Associate Professor of Communication Dan Koger. Students from their classes will coordinate the event and work with community leaders to encourage community participation. Founded in 1946, Church World Service is a cooperative ministry of 35 Protestant, Orthodox and Anglican denominations that provides sustainable self-help and development, disaster relief, and refugee assistance in 80 countries. For more information about the November 16, 2008, event, go to: www.churchworldservice.org/crop; contact Phelps at phelpsg@lindsey.edu or Koger at kogerd@lindsey.edu.
