Airport Road is damaged; over winter repairs likely

2008-08-24 - Columbia-Adair County Airport - Photo By Ed Waggener.
Elation over the recent paving the Columbia-Adair County Airport runway is tempered somewhat with the finding that heavy truck traffic during the repaving process, and during the construction of the new hangar, foreground, caused extraordinary damage to the access road to the facility. It's a frequent scenario following repaving and road construction projects, that the destruction involved in construction leaves only a thin margin of improvement pverall. Judge Ann Melton and Columbia Mayor Pat Bell inspected the airport road damage Friday, August 22, 2008. Judge Melton says that the like fix is to take up patches of pavement, spread gravel to overwinter, and re-pave next spring.
