Feedback: Thrilled that Reclaiming Burkesville Street still alive

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I was thrilled to see this today. I thought well, the ideais still alive.

I emailed our Governor asking for information regarding the contact person who is in charge of a project of this nature?

I also mention to him that Jim Wood is an fairly good acquaintance of our family. He is an attorney from Owensboro. KY, and a former deacon at our daughter's church. I know him quite well. He is now in Frankfort, working with the State. He is a big politician, who has some pull if he wanted to use it to help us.

I am looking forward to more comments, and pictures--whatever you come up with. It's a dream. and a very good idea.

One of the ladies at the city council meeting told me even after the meeting closed..the council members were discussing the idea and liked it.

I sent Pat Bell an email with the plan or idea, but he didn't give my name. Why I don't know. I didn't ask for privacy or tell him not to mention my name. Pat and Martha have been long time friends of ours for many years. I feel very comfortable discussing things with him.

I knew the City wasn't in control, that this is going to be a State matter, but figured it was one good way to get some attention.

It's rather tricky to get the state to do things, but it isn't impossible. If one has contacts and the need is there. I wish more people would send in their ideas and really get this thread going.

The more attention the community plays in the idea, if they are for it, the better.

I haven't talked to anyone who is not for it. They just seem to think Columbia will never have anything like this.

To me, I fail when I don't try, and will pursue this until I feel we have exhausted all efforts--and I am a very patient person.

s/Alice Wheeler
