ACPL invites writers to help with Adair surname book project Deadline for submissions is September 29, 2008. Book will be major addition to bibliography of Adair County. Instructions, other important dates for project, below By Ernestine Bennett, Genealogy librarian, Adair County Public Library The surname book entitled, "Adair County Surname Book Project: Volume 1" planned for the October 2008 gathering, will be a compilation of creative pages that have been submitted by Adair County Kentucky descendants. We are really excited about the book and workshop and believe that they will be a marvelous tool for future genealogists (maybe your great-great grandchildren)! We are doing this because we do not want our Adair County names to disappear and this will give new Adair County families a chance to save their family roots. We are asking each participant to submit one page about their Adair County Kentucky families. This can contain pictures, biographies, stories, charts, etc. You may submit more than one family surname sheet. We hope that you will be as creative and concise as possible to make this book helpful, interesting to read and a treasured family memento. The only limit to your creativity is that you must contain your information to one side of an 8.5x11" sheet of paper. You may submit your information by email, fax, regular mail, or drop it off at the Adair County Public Library. Emails can be sent to ernie2b@yahoo.com or eanj2@yahoo.com. You may fax information to 270-384-9446 or mail information to Adair County Public Library, 307 Greensburg Street, Columbia KY 42728. Each entry submitted must include the name and address of the person submitting the information. The deadline for submissions is September 29th. During the Family Name Gathering Workshop on October 13, 2008, a rough draft of the book will be available to view. If you would like to purchase a completed copy of the book you may pre-order it that day. For more information on the book and the workshop, please call the library at (270) 384-2472 and ask for Ernie or Lee Ann. This story was posted on 2008-07-28 05:15:17
