Feedback: The elusive blue heron of Old Clearsprings RD And a call from CM to contributing photographers to help inventory the Tree Tunnels. To ColumbiaMagazine.com It was a blue heron. Good lucking getting his picture! He/she has lived here for years. But to save my soul, I cannot get a picture. He/she goes between the three creeks on Old Clearsprings Road and is never in the same place twice. s/Shamarie Claiborne Thanks for the comment. You'll get that bird one day, we're sure. But on an even more important note: We'd like for contributors to help us document the great Tree Tunnels of Adair County. The first photo wasn't what we want: it didn't have a pedestrian, a horse, a dog or cat, a vehicle or other form of animal life evident in the sunniest part. Right now, we know of several great ones yet to be photographed on Old Clearsprings Road, on Corbin's Bend Road, and, on the all important connector road, West Egypt Road, between KY 551 and Holmes Bend Road. We're also wanting photos of great Tree Walls and Thickets, like the ones in town, Hurt and Montgomery Streets, for instance, which add so much mystery, slow runoff and prevent flooding, give privacy, and add so much to the unique beauty of Columbia and Adair County. The cedars behind D&F in Gradyville, KY, are another Tree Wall and/or Thicket which fits in this category. In contributing the photographs, as with all submissions, we hope you'll include the answers to Who, What, Why, Where, When, and How and any other significant information which will make the photo more interesting. Send them using any of the Contact/Submit Buttons. -EW This story was posted on 2008-05-27 08:07:20
