Eight club members, Charon Gray, Ginger Swift, Dora Mae Stone, Vonnie Kolbenschlag, Jane Grant, Johnie Biggs, Mary Knight and Barbara Armitage, have given 30 hours to project With one photograph By Barbara Armitage If you've driven by the Adair County Library on Greensburg Street lately you may have noticed that things are looking good. The Library is getting a landscape facelift courtesy of the Adair County Garden Club. The first of several planed garden areas was completed Wednesday May 7, 2008. The garden surrounds the Janice Holt Giles Memorial sign at the main entrance. The garden design which features the letter "A" as its center was the brainchild of committee chairperson Charon Gray. Planted in red, white and blue the "A" garden will grow and bloom just as the students of Adair County High School, who were it's inspiration will. More than 30 hours of volunteer time from eight Garden Club members went into the garden Charon Gray, Ginger Swift, Dora Mae Stone, Vonnie Kolbenschlag, Jane Grant, Johnie Biggs, Mary Knight and Barbara Armitage all tilled and weeded and replanted to make Adair County a more beautiful place to live. Additional garden areas are planned for the near future. If you would like to be a part of the Library Landscape Facelift you can volunteer your time or make a donation to the effort.Contact the Adair County Garden Club, Barbara Armitage at (270) 250-2979.The Garden Club meets the 4th Thursday of each month 1:00pmCT at various locations.
