Penn's Store is primary site of 2008KYWriters Day Celebration

Writers Day is Friday, April 25, 2008.

In honor and celebration of the state's designated Writers Day on April 24, the birthday of Robert Penn Warren, noted writers, authors, poets and songwriters read and perform their own work and the work of others at Blues on Tap in downtown Lebanon, Historic Penn's Store in Gravel Switch, KY, and Woody's in Danville this Friday through Sunday, April 25-27, 2008.



The 2008 KWD Celebration features Michael Johnathon, singer/songwriter/author and host ofthe "Wood songs Old Time Radio Hour,"the Elizabeth Madox Roberts Society, Ron Whitehead & Sarah Elizabeth and many other authors and musicians.

Admission is free. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and come enjoy the festivities and there are open mic slots for unscheduled performances.Books and CDs are available for purchase and authorsand artists will sign their work. Food is available and Penn's Store will be open for a trip back in time.

Blues on Tap owner James Spragens was one of a group ofMarionCountyHigh Schoolstudents who drafted the bill establishing Kentucky Writers Day.
