Watershed will be holding a celebration of Riverstone's history and providing the gallery's many admirers an opportunity to say goodbye on Saturday, December 1, beginning at 6:00pmET/5:00pmCT. The public is invited and there is no charge for admission. Many of the local musicians and artists who have performed during the past seven years will be returning to celebrate the fun and entertaining moments held at Riverstone. Over the years, Riverstone has provided the backdrop for both famous artists like Wendell Berry as well as the local arts community. Many elementary school children have had the exciting experience of having their artwork displayed on the walls at Riverstone. "Riverstone Art Gallery has been the center of the arts scene in Somerset for quite a few years," said Watershed executive-director James Vitatoe. "We wanted to have a chance for everyone to say goodbye to this wonderful facility." Vitatoe said that Watershed Arts Alliance will be continuing its efforts to promote local artists and performers. He said the local arts organization is currently seeking a new location. The current exhibit at Riverstone is "Pink and Blue" by SCC Assistant Professor Darlene Libbey, who teaches art, and one of her students, Dave Cazalet, who is the Director of Public Relations at SCC. Riverstone Art Gallery is located at 209 East Market St. in downtown Somerset. The gallery is located above and behind Rogers Photography.
