Author Susie Grant speaks to large group at ACPL Adair County Treasure Susie Grant entertains crowd at Janice Holt Giles Memorial Library with emotional stories of coming of age in wartime Germany; lecture leavened with writer's trademake humor. Local readers eagerly awaiting the publication of her autobiography, "The True Story of a German War Bride" due out in early 2008 With one photo By Hilda Smith Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story Susie Grant talked to a crowd of 26 tonight at the library about her experiences during WWII in her hometown of Muhlheim / Main; West Germany. Remembering the awful memories of her hometown being bombed and how she as a young girl had to help rescue the injured was emotional for everyone there. She also kept the crowd entertained with her wit as she told about her unusual first meeting with her husband, Sidney Grant, and how that meeting changed her life forever. She told how, against very strong objections from her father, they were married and she later followed her new love to their home in Adair County, Columbia, KY. . . USA. Susie Grant has signed a contract with PublishAmerica to have her book "The True Story of a German War Bride" published. In this book she goes into more detail about the struggles she faced during World War II and how she wishes some of those memories could be erased from her mind. Her book takes the reader back to her early childhood in Germany; all the way to her new home in Kentucky; then back to Germany where she is finally reunited with her parents, grandparents and other family members and friends. The book is in the publishers hands now, but she hopes it will be out for the public by Spring 2008. Pictured with Susie Grant are the ladies from the Adair County Public Library. Susie would like to thank everyone that attended and especially say thanks to the staff of the library for hosting this meeting for her. The writer of this story, Hilda Smith, is the Proud Daughter of Susie Grant This story was posted on 2007-11-27 04:51:41
