Key Mortgage Company, located in Madison Square Office Building, Columbia, KY, was recognized as the No. 1 Guaranteed Loan originator in the State of Kentucky for single family housing loans by the United States Department of Agriculture, Rural Development Administration, Kentucky, at a presentation ceremony this morning at 11:30amCT, at the company's office on Burkesville ST, Columbia, KY.

Making the award to Key Mortgage President Darrell Overstreet was Gary Crockett, Somerset, KY, the Area Guaranteed Housing Specialist, who works from the Columbia USDA Rural Development office on Campbellsville Street in Columbia.

"It was a tough year," Mr. Overstreet said, "especially the first half of 2007. But we've had really good business the last six months."

Mr. Overstreet said he wasn't willing to say that the housing market has completely turned around, but the Columbia situation is looking up. "I think we're doing better here than most communities," he said. "As you've heard me say at Chamber of Commerce meetings," he added, "I think Adair County is looking at it's brightest future ever."

Also present for the ceremony were Charles Blankenship, Area Director of the Colulmbia Area USDA Rural Development office, Lori Lee, Loan Officer and Processor, and Linda Milby, Loan Closer, of Key Mortgage's office, and Sue Stivers, Executive Director of the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce.

"We're proud of Darrell Overstreet for bringing this honor to Columbia and Adair County," Stivers said, "and we are so appreciative for the help USDA Rural Development and it's predecessor, FHA, have given to Adair County over more than 50 years," she said.

Mr. Overstreet received the award once before, in 2005, when he was head of the People's Mortgage Company here, but this was the first time he had received it for Key Mortgage Company.
