Obituary: Nancy Glenn Davenport, 76, Marietta, OH

Mrs. Davenport was the mother of Adair Countian Mary Keltner.
She made many friends in Adair County on visits to Gradyville, KY


Nancy Glenn Davenport, 76, formerly of Fifth Street, Marietta, Ohio died at 10:35pmET, Thursday, September 27, 2007, at the home of her daughter Nancy and son-in-law Joseph Vickers.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10amET, Monday, October 1, 2007, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 504 Fourth ST, Marietta, OH, with Father Mike Campbell officiating.



Mrs. Davenport was the mother of Mary Keltner, former Adair County Health Department nurse, Gradyville, KY. Mrs. Davenport became known to a circle of Adair County friends through visits here.

She was born, May 31, 1931, in Evanston, IL, a daughter of Arthur F. and Mary Naomi Speidel Fitzgerald. She was a licensed practical nurse. She retired from nursing and moved to Marietta, OH, in 1988. Nancy enjoyed gardening, quilting, and swimming at The Betsey Mills Club with "The Mermaids."Nancy married Raymond DeBacker who preceded her in death.She is survived by the following:
  • Three daughters: Mary Keltner, Gradyville, KY; Nancy G. (Joseph) Vickers, Marietta, OH; and Amy S. (Sean) Murphy, Wauconda, IL

  • Grandchildren: Lani Rosenstock and Natasha (Scott) Nadel, (Mary Keltner's daughters); Michelle Moats, Tiffany (Erik) Carlsen, Rich (Amanda) Best, David Vickers, April (Mike) Morris; Lindsey Vickers, and Christopher Murawski

  • And seven great-grandchildren
She later married John B. Davenport, who preceded her in death.She later married John B. Davenport, who preceded her in death. Surviving are two stepdaughters, Jennifer Davenport of Columbus, OH, and Robin (Charles) Brewer of Echo Lake, Ill.; and "adopted" daughter, Marcia Petty of Marietta. Also surviving are one brother and two sisters, Arthur F. (Ruth) Fitzgerald of Huntley, IL, Mary Joan Fitzgerald of Evanston, IL, and Suzanne H. (Martin) Knapp of Fox River Grove, IL.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by her son John L. DeBacker and brother Thomas B. Fitzgerald.

Friends may call from 2:00pm today, Sunday, September 30, 2007, at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home. 314 Fourth St. Marietta, OH. The family will be present from 2:00pmET to 4:00pmET and 6:00pm to 8pmET, Sunday, September 30, 2007.

Burial will be in Tunnel Cemetery.
