New Sports Event: Big $$ Corn Toss meet draws from 3 states Ohio/KY team takes $1,000 first place prize; Hoosiers win second. Big Money Corn Toss event is winner for AC SAR Team, spectators, and the 74 players who entered. By Shannon "Catfish" Rowe Adair County SARTeam Officer, Tournament Administrater The team of Matt Guy, Campbell County, and Mike Bailey, Cincinnati, OH, took home the $1,000 top prize in the 1st Adair County SAR Team Corn Toss Tournament held Saturday, August 18, 2007, at the Adair County Fairgrounds. The second place team of Stever Vanderver and Dewi Dean, Indiana, took home $250. Thirty-seven teams--74 players--from all Kentucky as well as Indiana and Ohio came to Columbia to participate in the event. An unusually large crowd for a hot August Day took advantage of the shaded park as spectators for the free event. Sherman Rucker, the promoter for the event, was pleased with the wide draw of entrants and with the turnout from Columbia. "Considering the weather, the competing events, and everything, this was a really fine showing of interest in this emerging sport," he said. Rucker guaranteed the event and a return to the Adair County SAR Team. "There may very well be more of the programs." Adair County CJE Ann Melton made an appearance at the event, visiting with many in the crowd and welcoming out-of-towners to Columbia, KY. This story was posted on 2007-08-19 05:42:27
