Just in: Flames can't ignite in 2-0 loss to Illinois Pitching holds Illinois to two unearned runs today; Sunday,Flame faces Iowa and Nebraska By Gerald Reliford The nameof the game was pitching. The Adair Flames lost their first game to Illinois 2-0. The Flame bats were silent even as the Flame pitching did their job to hold Illinois to two unearned runs. Meredith Corbin and Chelsea Sampson held the Illinois team to one hit. Corbin had the lone Flame hit, a single to right field. Both runs were the result of fielding errors. The game was scoreless until the fourth inning. Although the Flame had two base runners on in the bottom of the fourth, they failed to score. Hopefully, the Flames will settle down and find their hitting stroke against the Iowa and Nebraska teams on Sunday. It is the kind of loss that is hard to take but tomorrow is a new day.
