81 players participate in the 2007 CKTS Columbia Open

Tournament has doubled in size since first CKTS series began with 2003 Columbia Open

This past weekend, July 21 and 22, Columbia was home to the Columbia Open, the 4th tournament of the year in the 2007 Central Kentucky Tennis Series. A record 81 players competed in this years event.

Five of the players participating in the tournament were from Adair County.

The CKTS is a member of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Community Tennis Association group. It is an incorporated, not-for-profit volunteer-based tennis organization that supports or provides programs which promote and develop the growth of tennis in this area.

The tournament was played at Lindsey Wilson College, the Adair County High School, and the Columbia Fairground facilities with 81 total matches played over the two day event.

The CKTS would like to thank Wal-Mart for being the 2007 local funding sponsor for the event.

The CKTS would also like to thank Lindsey Wilson College for hosting the event as well as the City of Columbia and Adair County High School for providing facilities for the event.

Matches began at 8:00am CT on Saturday morning. The last match concluded at approximately 9:00pm CT on Sunday night under the lights at the Columbia Fairgrounds.

The CKTS series began with the Columbia Open in 2003, which attracted 40 players. It has doubled in size since that time. Seven new members were signed during the Columbia Open tournament. Currently the CKTS has 138 total members in the Central Kentucky area.

Mens Open Singles:
