New geography question: What is 4th name of Ella, KY? It is one of those perplexions which race around in the mind of Donald McKinney, not nagging enough to write down, but a bother to him anyway: The fourth name of Ella, KY. "I can always remember three of them," he says, "and it's a different three everytime. What I can't remember is all four at one time." On Saturday, July, 21, 2007, his fractional epiphany in the IGA parking lot was: "1) Ella, 2) Fairview, and 3) The Crossroads." He says the other name is not "New Hope," as one might think. If thinking is labor for one, one ought not take the matter up on the Sabbath. But now that CM has finally written three of the names down, it would be greatly appreciated if some knowledgeable person, perhaps Donald McKinney himself, would remit the fourth, now that the heavy-lifting of writing it down has been done. Ella is centered at the intersection of KY 206, Neat Hollow Road, and (the road opposite, is another perplexion, written from a distance), 11 miles out of Columbia, KY. The village is, according to many, the entrance to Burton Ridge, traveling in a southeasterly direction. This story was posted on 2007-07-22 07:14:29
