Obituary: Billy Phillips, 53, member, Trinity United Methodist

Mr. Phillips was a member of a large, well-known Adair County family. He was owner of Phillips Painting, a business he operated in Columbia for 20 years. His funeral and visitation will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in the midst of his church family and his host of friends

Billy Phillips, 53, 419 Wain Street, Columbia, KY, passed away Monday, June 4, 2007, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY.

Details of the funeral are now complete. The service will be Friday, June 8, 2007, at 11:00am CT, at Trinity United Methodist Church, where Billy Phillips was a member. His pastor, Rev. Garry Jones, and Rev. William R. Davenport, will officiate, with visitation there also. He will be laid to rest in Haven Hill Cemetery on Liberty Road in Columbia.

Billy Phillips was born September 15, 1953, the son of the late Joe Phillips of Columbia, KY.

He is survived by his mother, Inis Estes Phillips, Columbia, KY, and by his wife, Jelaine Tucker Phillips, also of Columbia, and the following:
  • One son: Shawn Phillips, Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Heather Phillips, Columbia, KY

  • Six brothers; Bobby Phillips, Terry Phillips, Darrell Phillips, Steve Phillips, and Jim Phillips, all of Columbia, KY, and Larry Philips, Russell Springs, KY

  • Four sisters: Patricia Fisher, Fairdale, KY; Diane Ford and Sherry Phillips, both of Columbia, KY; and Betty Burris, Greensburg, KY

  • Half brothers & sisters: David Lawhorn, Greensburg, KY; Marsha Rowe, Columbia, KY; and Janice McCuiston and Danny Phillips, Murray, KY

  • One grandson, Maddox Phillips, Columbia, KY

  • Special loved ones: Shelley Rodgers, Lynn Dudley, and Heather Akin, all of Columbia, KY
Billy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was owner of Phillips Painting Company of Columbia for over 20 years.

Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, Liberty Road, Columbia, KY

Visitation will be after 3:00pm on Thursday, June 7, 2007, at Trinity United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to William R. Davenport Family Life Center at Trinity United Methodist Church.

Remembering Billy Phillips: In happier times

This is the most recent photograph we have of Billy Phillips, with his wife, Jelaine Phillips, a health education instructor at the Adair County Health Department. The photo was taken at the Phillps' church home, Trinity United Methodist, at a fund raiser in November 2006, for the late Tyler Jessee. Mr. Phillips died today at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. The funeral will be at Stotts, Phelps, McQueary Funeral Home. Further details will be announced as they are received.
