Veteran's list update: May 28, 2007

New additions made to "Honoring Adair County Veterans who have served our country" list, just a part of the updates we have received. Watch for new updates between now and July 4, 2007

By Ed Waggener

There are a number of contributions to work through to bring the Veterans List, "Honoring Adair County Veterans who have served our country." Four letters covering new additions and some corrections, are added here.

We'll be updating the list in an intense manner in the next few weeks and ask readers to continue to send material for it during the open period from Memorial Day to July 4, 2007.

Misty Claywell wrote: "Just a friendly 'hi' Ed, and also in the 'N' column, Doug Nobles is listed as 'Nobels'....it is actually 'Nobles.' He is currently with the 101st Airborne with the Army and has served one term in Iraq and will be going back again at the end of the summer. He is my baby brother...and I am very proud of him. Thank you."
The update has been made. Thanks, Misty, and thanks to all who are helping us edit the list.

The name of John E. Humkey, Korean War, has been sent and is now added to the list.

Donna Ollery wrote: "Please add James Pyles to the list of Veterans. Thank you."

Rose Willis sent six new names with this note: "These family members are missing: Bobbie C. Willis, USAF, 1950-1970; Marvin Lee Breeding, WWII; L. J. Willis, WWII; George Henry Willis, WWI; Glenn Reid Willis, Vietnam War; Mason Judd, WWII"
Thanks. These names are now added.

Morris Shepherd wrote: "Ed, my great grandfather, George Milton Wolford, served in the Union Cavalry during the Civil War. He was a nephew of Col. Frank Wolford. He was later the sheriff of Adair Co. andhanged the last two men to be hanged in Adair Co. in 1884. Alton Wolford is spelled Wolford, not Woolford as listed. He is a brother to the other five Wolfords on the list. No one on that list is spelled Woolford to my knowledge. Thanks! P.S. Am attaching a picture of George M.
Thanks again. The name has been added and the change Alton Wolford's name has been corrected.
