Obituary: Thomas Wilkerson, 81, WWII veteran

Mr. Wilkerson was a member of Columbia First Church of the Nazarene, a retired contractor, and the patriarch of a large family totaling 37 living descendants

Thomas Wilkerson, 81, of 109 College Park Drive, Columbia, KY, died Friday, may 18, 2007, at 10:30pm at Westlake Regional Hospital.

The funeral service will be Monday, May 21, 2007,at 1:00pm CT, at Columbia First Church of the Nazarene with Bro. Scott Ezell officiating.

A native of Elmwood Place, OH, he was a son of the late Thrman Oakley and Ola Mae Brown Wilkerson.

He was a member of Columbia First Church of the Nazarene, a US Navy veteran of World War II, served four years in the Air Corps, and was a retired contractor.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Durham Wilkerson, Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • One daughter: Karen Dial, Columbia, KY

  • One son and daughter-in-law: Thomas H. and Electra Wilkerson, Okachobee, FL

  • One brother and sister-in-law: James Harold and Joyce Wilkerson, Urbana, IL

  • And 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren
Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery with military honors presented by VFW Post 6097.

Visitation will be after 4:30pm Sunday, May 20, 2007 at Grissom Funeral Home and after 12 noon Monday at the church.

Grissom Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
