Ladies Auxiliary for VFW Post 6097 is finally official By Jimmy Luttrell, Post Commander, Columbia VFW Post 6097 Last Tuesday night, May 1, 2007, the Ladies Auxiliary for Columbia VFW Post 6097 became an official chapter. At the meeting, which was presided over by Virginia Smiley, President of the State Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, members were sworn in and officers were elected. Officers were elected as follows: Cathy Luttrell, President; Louise Brock, Senior Vice President; Jennifer Biggs, Junior Vice President; Tricia Janes, Treasurer; Mary Curry, Chaplain; Mitzi Bault, Conductress; Lachana Scholl, Guard; Patti Troutman, 3rd Year Trustee; Pat Smith, 2nd Year Trustee; and Ruby Roach, 1st Year Trustee. After officers were sworn in, President Cathy Luttrell then appointed Mary Curry as Secretary, Ada Coffey as Patriotic Instructor and Fay McKinley as Historian. Also at the meeting, the Ladies Auxiliary received a check in the amount of $1,500.00 from Columbia VFW Post 6097. The members of the post wished to express their support for the Ladies Auxiliary and hoped that the funds would be of help in getting the auxiliary operational. The Ladies Auxiliary will meet every 4th Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. in the VFW building at the fairgrounds. For more information on joining the Ladies Auxiliary, you may call 384-5219 or email Cathy Luttrell at retmom41@windstream.net.
