Jason Harmon: CM is fast, but it is regularly scooped Sends word to be on lookout for "Little Harmon's" wallet; also sends some well-taken advice By Jason Harmon I would love to be down there for the *auction. It looks like a lot ofinteresting things on the bill. My dad said to be on the lookout for abillfold he lost on that property many years ago. He would like to have itback. The wallet may be inscribed, "Little Harmon", the nickname he used todistinguish himself from his uncle, Besser "Big Harmon" Harmon, from whenthe pair worked for Lawrence Burton, et al. I ran into one of Delbert's nieces today at the hospital in Shelbyville,Indiana and was talking to her about Columbia Magazine. She had heard through the grapevine about her Uncle's hearse on your website and wanted to see it. I just thought it was interesting that the 2 of us, about 200 miles from Columbia still keep in close contact with Columbia and events around The Ridge. Columbia Magazine is fast, but I have to admit that my grandma Jewel Harmon and her sister Versie Streeval are usually a little faster. I usually call my grandma and inform her about obituaries on your website. The usual response: "Yeah, Versie called me and told me this morning." My advice to you Mr. Waggener: Head out 206, search for Versie and beg herto join your team as your ace reporter. You can't out-scoop her. Editor's note: Good advice. I do know my betters. I plan to head out 206 in the morning. There are some people who get more news by accident than any web magazine, radio station or newspaper could ever hope to do. Practically all the news we get comes from Pee Wee Sinclair, and he doesn't tell us a tenth of what he knows. If we got over to Jimmy Tupman's garage more often, and just listened to an hour or two of what he knows, we would surpass the Courier-Journal, the Grit, and the Western Recorder combined. If we can get Versie on board, look-out New York Times, Atlantic Monthly--even The Daily Show. ColumbiaMagazine.com'ul be the top of the heap! *Auction: Click here for handbill of the auction Jason Harmon refers to, above. This story was posted on 2007-04-26 21:10:16
