Driver dies in head-on collision on KY 55 south of Columbia Adair is saddened by second fatal traffic accident in county in less than 14 hours.-Editor A head-on collision today on KY 55, 1.3 miles south of Columbia, KY, resulted in the death of one driver, Robert A. Shelton, Jr., 31, Crestwood, IL. The accident occurred at 1:10pm, Friday, April 20, 2007. Robert A. Shelton, Jr., was operating a 2001 Honda, northbound, when he lost control, crossed the center line, and struck a southbound 2002 GMC truck, operated by Jerry A. Duvall, 24, Burkesville, KY. Robert Shelton, Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene by the Adair County coroner. Duvall was treated and released at Westlake Regional Hospital. The accident was investigated by Trooper Dewayne Holder of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY.
