Does anybody remember Smith Motor Co., Cane Valley, KY? Does anybody remember Smith Motor Co., Cane Valley, KY, a dealership owned by the brother of Everett Smith, who was a well known barber in Columbia right up to through the 1950s, as I recall. Sam McCaffree, Topeka, KS, remembers that it operated in the 1920's, as he recalls. Mr. McCaffree left Columbia, KY, in 1933, and settled in Topeka, where he found the Columbian Bank & Trust Company, now a large, privately owned, independent bank. He recalls that the dealership first sold Star cars and later Durants. He remembers that a cousin of ours, the late Clark Smith, owned a Star vehicle.
