Evelyn Phelps: 2007 Outstanding Employee of the Year

Evelyn Phelps was named the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce Employee of the Year at the group's April 9, 2007 Annual Banquet at Cranmer Dining Center, Lindsey Wilson College.


In making the presentation, Dana Walker said:

"The Outstanding Employee of the year is Evelyn Phelps. She has worked in the automobile industry for 50 years. She began her career at Columbia Motor Company, which later became Phelps and Overstreet. In 1988, the business was sold and became Harvey-Ellis Motors, where Evelyn continues to work.

"evelyn is known for her outstanding work ethic--dependable, trustworthy, efficient, capable, dedicated to the job and her employer--and provides the best customer service to everyone who enters the business.

"She is an active member of the Columbia Christian Church, where she serves as Treasurer of their Relay for Life team and Treasurer of her Sunday School class. She is Chairman of the Adair County Democratic Women, Treasurer of the Hospital Auxiliary, and an active member of the Chamber.

"The Order of the Eastern Star has played an important role in her life. She has served in every office of the Adair Chapter, and served in the highest offices of the District and State Chapters. She now serves as treasurer of the local chapter.

"She is the mother of three children: Ann, Mike, and Sue.

"Congratulations, Evelyn, on the honor of being chosen the Outstanding Employee of the Year."
