Calvin Aaron: Outstanding Agriculturist of the year Calvin Aaron was named the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce Agriculturist of the Year at the group's April 9, 2007 Annual Banquet at Cranmer Dining Center, Lindsey Wilson College. In making the presentation, Dana Walker said: "The Outstanding Agriculturist of the year is Mr. Calvin Aaron. "He has been involved in agriculture his entire life. He started out as a tenant farmer in the early 40s. Today, he owns and operates 449 acres of prime land, which is the largest and most productive farm in Adair County. "Calvin and his wife, Allene, a retired teacher, were married in 1949 and have one daughter, Annette Keltner, who is also a teacher. They have one granddaughter, Laramie, who is a junior at Lindsey Wilson College. "Calvin was an outstanding dairy farmer for many years, but has turned his operation over to his son-in-law. Today, he is an outstanding beef cattle farmer. "He is an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Gideons, cattleman's association, and the community. People in his community will tell you that is an outstanding neighbor, always helping others. When someone needs help due to illness or other ways, Calvin Aaron stops his farm work, takes his equipment and does the farm work for them. "He has never been known to say a bad word about any person. Isn't that a great quality? "He has had all kinds of major illnesses but that has never kept him from being a good neighbor and farmer. "Congratulations, Mr. Aaron. The Chamber is honored to recognize you as the Outstanding Agriculturist of the Year." This story was posted on 2007-04-10 10:27:03
