Dr. Giles: Business/Professional Man of the year Dr. Chuck Giles was named the 2007 Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce Professional Man of the Year at the group's Annual Banquet, Monday, April 9, 2007. In making the presentation, Dana Walker said: "The Outstanding Professional and Business Man of the Year is Dr. Chuck Giles. After graduating from Adair County High School in 1978, Dr. Giles continued his education at the University of Kentucky, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. Over the next 7 years, he graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, completed his internship and his residency in Internal Medicine. "In 1989, Dr. giles returned home and opened a private practice for Internal Medicine in Adair County. He also serves as an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine for the University of Louisville. Dr. Giles became a Diplomate of the American board of Internal Medicine. In 1991, he was elected as a Fellow to the American College of Physicians. "Dr. Giles currently serves on the Adair County Board of Health and as a Board of Director for the United Citizens Bank. "As many of you know, Dr. Giles has a love for thoroughbred horses. This began when he attended his first Kentucky Derby at age eleven. What first started as a hobby has turned into a business for him. In July 1993, he bought his first broodmare. Although he continues to have some horses racing, he predominately concentrates on the breeding industry. Some of his foals that have been raise and sold have raced across the United States, Japan, Ireland, England, and Dubai. "In Dr. Giles' off time, you will see him at various school and sporting events from high school down to tee-ball watching one of his four boys . . . Chaz, Van, Baylor, and Clay.
